The glamorous retailer, Sphere, opened with a bang last night at 5 p.m. on 300 W. State St. in Media, Pennsylvania.
The event was well attended with over 500 people showing up to check out the store's sleek design. WMMR's Steve Morrison from "The Preston and Steve Morning Show" cut the grand opening ribbon to reveal the futuristic electronics retail store to the entire town. The mayor of Media, Pennsylvania, Bob McMahon proudly stood by Steve's side while the ribbon was being cut to show his support for the store.
Sphere is the first of many stores in the tri-state area to rock a club design but still pull it off as a futuristic electronics retailer. The whole town of Media was waiting for the day they would find out what was inside of the mysterious store. Now the mystery along with the outrageous marketing campaign is finally revealed.
Advertising for this grand opening was very unique and included boys running around town in green wigs and glasses passing out flyers with mysterious questions on them. Sphere also advertised their campaign with WMMR and had all of their listeners asking, "What is going on in Media, Pa. with the mysterious questions"? Besides flyers, bar napkins and coasters were passed out to the local restaurants advertising the mysterious messages that all lead to the final grand opening.
"The marketing campaign to promote our store was a great team effort. We are very proud that many Media residents, business owners and town officials have told us our grand opening was the best publicized and attended event they have ever scene in Media," said Dan Prediger, COO of Sphere.
"This is the biggest PR event I have even scene in Media," said the Mayor Bob McMahon.
The grand opening was a party on State St. from 5 to 8 p.m. People were break dancing and having fun throughout the whole event. Bubble machines were blasting outside, along with festive music playing that gave the event a fun atmosphere.
"We look forward to being a destination point for people to interact and learn about modern electronics in Media and many other neighborhoods as well," said Buddy Tanjala, CEO of Sphere.
Steve Morrison from WMMR's "Preston and Steve Morning Show," played video games with customers that were eager to challenge him. Marisa Magnatta, from WMMR's "Preston and Steve Morning Show," raffled off concert tickets, gift cards, and all kinds of free give-a-ways to people that attended the grand opening.
Now that Sphere is open to the public they will soon be carrying more futuristic electronics that customers can come in and learn how to use. Since the grand opening on July 29, 2010 the unique design of the store has been pulling people in to see what Sphere has to offer.
Sphere's purpose is to bring the most modern technology in the world directly to consumers. They will always strive to educate the public and show consumers how technology can improve and simplify their lives. Consumers are encouraged to come into the store to learn about new technology through hands on experience. Sphere prides itself on selling quality products backed up by quality customer service.
